Compounded yield

Compounded yield is the rate of return as a yearly percentage that you earn on a money market mutual fund. It assumes the fund reinvests any interest it earns. As a result of this reinvested income, compounded yields are higher than simple yields. (Simple yield is the yield with no reinvesting.) Money market funds maintain a constant net asset value of $1 and invest only in short-term securities. As a result, compounded yield is considered a better measure of investment performance of a money market fund than total return.
